The Vietnam War: A Musical History Episode 01 Where Is Vietnam
Radio Free Ambrose
An educational program about the Vietnam War using music and media clips about the war. It does not take a political position, just merely gives a snapshot in time via music and comments. There is no voiceover as I prefer to let it speak for itself. I have been collecting these songs and clips for almost 25 years. This episode represents an introduction to the series. More episodes from this season will drop on weekends. Comments, complaints and suggestions are welcome. A note on sources: Bear Family Record's epic 13 cd Collection called Next Stop is Vietnam, a collection of the best of the best. Another great resource is The Vietnam War Song Project on youtube and elsewhere set up by J Brummer. Both are doing a great service in preserving our musical history. Clips come various documentaries, films, news and politicians. Contents: "A Coup? Who Cares" Hello Vietnam - Johnnie Wright "JFK on withdrawal totally wrong" Distant Drum - Jim Reeves "Dick Cavett on not knowing where Vietnam was" Mr Where Is Vietnam? - Bob Necaise and Lil' Gary "McNamara - It was a cold war activity" Talkin' Vietnam - Phil Ochs "Vietnam was a domino" Crazy Vietnam War - Stringbean "The American soldier wants to know why" We Ain't At War - The Teachers "The aim of the communists" Infiltration Blues - Dolf Droge "In 1964 Americans went along with LBJ" Looks Like We're Gonna Fight Again "The final domino is the presidency" Viet Nam - Don Porter "Oliver Stone on LBJ misunderstanding Vietnamese nationalism"
